Pen Stealer

So unfortunately I am the world's most boring husband, and to entertain herself tonight Brittany decided that she would clean out her purse. I was probably doing something on my computer, however, when she got towards the bottom something happened that gained my full attention. I set my laptop aside and started watching... as Brittany pulled pen after pen from her purse. I probably started to notice at five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten... still going... fifteen, sixteen, seventeen... yeah. All together twenty-one pens/pencils! 21! So then I started to look at the pens... 13 were mine! Ha Ha This coming from the girl who always made fun of me for having pens in my pocket. (I am a nerdy engineer and always have at least two pens and normally a pencil in my pocket.) I couldn't believe it. no wonder some mornings I can't find my pens... I guess I know where to look from now on!  She says 13 pens in 11 months... how many will I take during eternity!? :)

Three phone interviews this last week... interesting to see what this week holds for us...

We are still alive!

This last Tuesday night our neighbor came by to tell us our car looked nice (we just got it fixed from the $7,000 hail damage that it acquired the same night Alabama got it with tornados).  Right after he walked away we noticed clouds come rushing in and this huge wind gust.  Next thing we knew the trees in front of us were horizontal!  Literally!  We hurried inside and sat in our lovely hallway with no power and not knowing anything!  About 30 minutes later our neighbor came back by and we decided to play cards in the dark!  It was pretty fun!  Lucky 3 hrs later our power came back on, but when it did there was a loud bang.  We didn't know what it was.  We later found out that the bang was a transformer that blew up! The other half of our apartment complex didn't have power for two days!  We were so lucky!

Thursday night Jacob and I watched the NBA draft.  I went to high school with Jimmy Butler who played for Marquette in college!  I've been watching almost ALL of his games and a huge fan!  I was hoping he would be drafted in the 2nd round.  To my surprise he got drafted in the first round!!!!!  I'm so excited for him!  He went to the Chicago Bulls!  I can't believe I'm saying this, but I guess I'm a Bulls fan now!  hahaha!

Well we went to bed happy Thursday night!  :)  Then next thing I know Jacob's phone was going off.  I thought it was his alarm clock and didn't really move.  Then next thing I know he is talking to my dad!  It was 1:15 am!  My dad was calling us to let us know that we were under a Torando Warning and that we needed to go to our bathroom!  I was really tired and in complete shock!  We turned on the news (while in the bathroom) on my labtop.  They specifically said our area was under attack and that there was a possible torando!  I was tired, emotional and thinking I was going to die!  I started crying.  My sweet husband decided we needed to pray.  He is so amazing!  I don't remember what he said, but I instantly stopped crying and felt better!  At around 3:30am I was able to go to sleep!  Two torandos did it our area, but lucky no one was hurt.  Just lots of trees down.  And a lot more people out of power!  Thankfully we didn't lose power this time!

So the summary of this story is that we have survived 3 times (including the night of Alabama when we were under Torando Warnings for 8 hrs)!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm so ready to move away!  But I guess there is natural disasters every where you go!  We are so happy to be alive and hope that everyone is safe whereever y'all are!

Saturday Night Fun!

I'm almost a neat freak!  So tonight I thought it would be fun to go through all our clothes and toss out the clothes we don't wear any more!  I'm not sure Jacob liked it as much as I did....well I don't think he liked it at all!  But I thought it was a good idea!  Plus now when we move we won't be packing extra things!
Our pile of old, small (or big in Jacob's case!), and unworn things before I folded them to take to goodwill!  I feel awesome!  I think Jacob is glad that it is over!

Women's Basketball!

Everyone should know that I love basketball!  This past year Jacob got me into college basketball!  We went to many UT basketball games!  It was so much fun!  Especially since Pat Summit is such an amazing lady and has so much history with womens basketball!  It was cool to watch her coach in person!
Since we love basketball in our house and we got an amazing coupon for buy one get one free for admission to the Women's Hall of Fame we decided to use it!  Here are a lot of pictures that I thought were interesting!  Enjoy!

Rules from 1923.  I liked "Eat whatever is served at meals excpect coffee and tea."  Also "bed every night from 10 o'clock until 6:30 am."

106 points in one game!  Amazing!  We also read that she was good at track and field and golf.  That basketball wasn't her best sport!  If only I could be like that!

This is what the women wore while playing basketball back in the day!  Crazy!  I so couldn't play in that!  What is funny is that the men weren't allowed to watch them practice because they were immodest!

Texas A&M!  NCAA Women's Championship 2011! :) :)

Pat Summit had a plaque.  This is what it said on the side.

Hard to see.  Says in summary:  Feb. 5, 2009 Pat Summit reached 1,000 wins which is more wins than any other coach, man or woman.  And to think that was 2 years ago!

The seven girls in women's history to dunk!  haha!  Two from Tennessee!

They had training areas so Jacob decided to work on his dribbling! (He isn't the best!  Shhhh!)

Jumping area to see how high you can reach.  He reached 9 feet which I think is amazing because he is white!  haha!

So they had a couple of hoops that we could play at.  This one was a replica of women's hoops back in the day!  We got our balls stuck....maybe we weren't suppose to shoot at this hoop!  Opps!

Doesn't he look great as a female basketball player?!  haha!

haha!  me!

This is the only type of dunking I'll ever be able to do!

After a million tries we got a semi-decent one!

The big basketball on top of the museum.

We had a lot of fun! We are glad we were able to go before we left!

Celebration!

Last night we went out with my parents to celebrate lots of things!  The main reason we went out was to celebrate my mom's birthday (which is actually today) and Jacob's graduation!  But we decided while we were there to celebrate many things: Jacob passed his FE exam, I don't have to work at a job I hate any more, my mom quit her job, and my dad still has a job!  haha!  We went to this yummy sushi bar!

My mom and dad!  They are too cute!

2 Years Already!

Due to the last post and how frustrating/sad it is I wanted to post something happy!

Jacob and I started dating officially two years ago!  Time really does fly!  Never did I think we would be married and at this point in our lives two years ago!  Here is how our 2nd date (when we came official!)....

Jacob invited me over for lunch and asked me to bring some movies.  *A couple of weeks before I heard him tell his friend that he wouldn't watch Shrek 2 unless it was with ......(I can't remember the name!) because he saw the first movie with this friend and they had decided they would watch the 2nd one together.*  Well being the sneaky little girl that I am, I brought that movie with a couple of other movies to his place.  He fixed us pizza and then we picked a movie to watch.  He picked Shrek 2!!!!  He passed the test!  I knew he must really like me if he would watch it with me!  We started watching it and guess what?!  The WHOLE movie is about kissing!  haha!  I had never realized that before!  haha!  When it ended we talked for a long time and then Jacob randomly said, "you win!" and leaned over and kissed me! hahahaha!  He said I kept looking at his lips!   I wasn't doing it purposely!  But I did want to kiss him!  And that is how it all started!

It was such a happy day!  I love him so much and glad that "i won" because I really did!  He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I'm glad he is mine!

P.S.  Maybe some day I'll figure out how to post pictures also!  haha!
